Heart of a Star – Fifth Annivesary Edition

A boy, a girl, and a slingshot…

Sometimes, a destiny written in the stars does not become a match made in heaven. Lord Alexander Cranston, the Marquess of Ashton, and Lady Isobelle Harrington gave new meaning to childhood sweethearts. In fact, there was little love lost between them. The constant bickering escalated, until it finally exploded into an episode involving a slingshot. Their families had no other choice, except to separate them.

Isobelle suffered deep wounds inflicted by a series of tragedies, which began in early childhood. Then she found herself burdened by a family obligation, shortly after entering adulthood. Never one to calmly accept fate’s decree, she resisted surrendering her hard won freedom shortly after she finally obtained it.

Alex felt attracted to Isobelle’s free spirit the moment they met as children, but his father discouraged active participation in her wild adventures. Since Alex knew rebellion was out of the question, he tried to clip Isobelle’s wings instead. His efforts yielded disastrous results.

During the intervening years, he succeeded his father and became the Fifth Duke of Wilmington. Now that Alex’s thirtieth birthday was a few months behind him, he found himself growing impatient to claim his soulmate. Thankfully, a great deal changed with adulthood, and he felt confident in a secret weapon. Alas, there was a small problem. Its effective use required luring Isobelle into his physical proximity.

Description

We always strive to offer our best to others, but some artists are never really satisfied with their work. Especially when it’s the first. I wish I could say I’m different, but I’m not. What better time than a fifth anniversary to offer a revised edition, complete with new cover art? Both this book and website were first brought to the public in 2020.  If you’re already acquainted with me, you know how much I love twofers.

I haven’t calculated the current word count yet, but Heart of a Star has always had around 100,000 words and should still have that many, at a minimum. It’s word count which provides the true length of a book, not number of pages. Those will vary in a reflowable e-book anyway, because the exact number is determined by the screen size of your electronic device. Phones and tablets are fine, but trust me, I don’t recommend wide-screen computer monitors. The accompanying digital file is an EPUB. I recommend the app, Adobe Digital Editions, because I’m familiar with the publisher and use it to proof my completed books.
