Midsummer Fairies Box

I think my soft spot for Victorian and Pre-Raphaelite art has existed since my childhood. One of my grandmothers used to have old storybooks illustrated with some of the works which now lurk in my graphic image library. I particularly liked “Midsummer Fairies” because of the dark blue in the background. Perhaps because sapphire happens to be my birthstone. It became the perfect inspiration for this box, which I painted blue and lined with velvet. It’s currently a one-of-kind. I’m not certain when I’ll find another box with the same size and curvy shape. (My wood box suppliers are luck of the draw. I don’t find fancy shapes very frequently.)
