Brown Sugar Bourbon Potpourri

Mummification isn’t exclusive to human corpses. The creation of moist potpourri is a similar art developed by ancient perfumers. It may not look pretty, but the scent is divine and lasts for an eternity. Which might be why it was included in many ancient burial rites.

Because it’s a culture that utilizes salt and spices, it’s great for less-than-perfect, fragrant plant material. This product is a blend of roses, citrus flower petals, citrus leaves, spices and fixatives. Not quite dead yet? Then you are truly blessed! We should stop to smell the preserved roses while we’re still living. So, give yourself, or someone special, a gift which truly keeps on giving. When the fragrance does begin to fade, it can be refreshed with essential oils and a few drops of bourbon. (Porcelain saucer isn’t included. Used for display purposes only.)

P.S. – It’s traditionally kept in glazed clay or porcelain scent jars for household use. Since I haven’t taken up pottery yet, my small caskets and resin jars are created as companions for my moist potpourri blends.

1 oz. (25 gm) I know it doesn’t sound like much, but there is actually a lot of plant material in this amount. Despite the name, most of the water still has to be removed before curing. This item is made in small batches because it’s almost entirely dependent on my garden, and some flowers are seasonal. We also had a drought in 2022. It affected rose production and killed four recently purchased bushes.
